A small number of users (including me) have had the same problem. I think it's caused by unplugging the charger at the Streak end of the cable. That connector isn't designed for "hot-swapping", unlike the USB connector at the other end, and the glitch on the pins sometimes causes a software crash. Did you remove that connector?
I now always disconnect the other (USB connector) end, or unplug the charger first, and the problem hasn't recurred. I think that other people who have seen my previous post about this are now doing the same, as apart from you, no one else seems to have had a problem.
If this is shown to be the case, perhaps it should be made a "sticky".
