I initially bought the Dell Streak to replace my Nokia NGage which I've had for 7 years, and has been pretty much rock solid throughout that time, despite it being called a pasty by friends and it being like holding a shell to my ear.... anyway...... Now, I bought the Streak 3 weeks ago and I've had constant problems with the messaging service failing (the grey rectangular android messaging failed box pops up) occurring as well as system freezing and a one-off constant vibrating. After being late for meeting my partner, we realised that all texts weren't being received from her phone to mine. (if we didn't send as many texts to each other, this may well have gone unnoticed) She then proceeded to number the texts so we could monitor it.... My streak was receiving 70% of the texts from her (which is disgraceful). It was failing to send a lot of them from the Streak too. I took it back to the O2 shop (who have been very polite and helpful in the Sunderland branch I must add) and the staff member took the sim card out then after still no success he replaced the sim card and I went home to test it.... Still no success.... I would receive some texts but not others..... and IF two days later I received a backlog of 20 texts in a row, there are still a further 20 which are lost completely and have never come through. I took it back to the shop AGAIN and the manager replaced the Streak for another new one - the crashes have happened once or twice but the texts still don't all come through. THIS IS HIGHLY INFURIORATING, never mind for a supposedly state of the art piece of technology, which should receive EVERYTHING!!! The shop have told me that they don't know what else to do for me and the next step should be to take it into the store and get an O2 "guru" (he was on holiday the other times I went in) to do a software restore on it - this is hurrendous really, bearing it mind it should work straight out of the box. I've been onto the the Dell Streak support site but you can only get a pc suite and all you can do with that is sync to Outlook, which I don't use and also back up your data??? In other words useless to me. Drivers & Downloads I'm sick as a chip...... totally. Apparently I have until the 9th July to cancel my agreement, as this is within the 28 day return period (please dont make me buy the new iphone instead!!!!!) This is a perfect phone for me with a mans sized screen (I'm 6ft 5" so to scale it is how big it should be :-), and I'm gutted that I'm probably going to have to cancel it. I'm very annoyed actually. We've done some tests to answer the obvious which you may be thinking: 1. My ngage can receive all texts from her - every single one - on the new pay as you go sim which I put in for emergency, and when it had the original sim which was transfered to the Streak (and was replaced with a new one by the staff member) 2. Friends have text me 20 texts which are numbered. All have been received except one person which didn't come through in chronological order. 3. She has tested her phone with a dozen of her friends, all of whom have received her texts chronologically without a problem. 4. When she sends me texts they'll come through (she starts at 1. for a new day btw) like........... 4, 9, 10, 11, 16, 18, 23, 24, 25, 26, 29, 30, 31, 32, 36 etc on the Streak. All 1-36 will be there waiting for me on NGage. I don't text many people, mainly her, so this could happen with other peoples numbers as well. The fact is that it shouldnt happen AT ALL..... and let me remind you that she sends the numbered texts at the same time to my Streak and Ngage - Ngage receives them all, Streak receives 70% (if that) so it can't be her phone. The same problem may be happening to other people too, but obviously if you're not receiving texts you're none the wiser that you've been sent them in the first place if you know what I mean. We've only just clicked on because we send each other so many texts during the day and as I haven't been answering specific questions (which then comes back at me as she thinks I'm just ignoring her as you gents may well know about!) I NEED SOME SUPPORT URGENTLY on this as come Monday or Tuesday morning I'm probably going to have to cancel the contract if it isn't sorted and buy an kids sized iphone 4 (and believe me, I don't want to do that, if only for the fact that I'll have to fork out more money for it.) Cheers, Kirky |

The Streak is great for gaming (especially for emulators) and I think I can easily the transition from N-Gage to Streak going well for you. |
