Hi mate,

I am an O2 Guru and proud Streak owner.... I have had a customer with the exact same problem and it absolutely baffled me, I managed to fix it by playing about with the settings at random but I cannot recall exactly what I did so please bear with me

The other lad was on an iPhone 4 so I had them both come in and set the iPhone to show caller ID (if show caller ID is on on your friends turn it off exit to the homescreen go back to settings and turn it on again), then on the Streak I went into Messages -> Settings and turned on Delivery Reports.

After that we sent 10 messages in a row from the iPhone (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) and they all came through flawlessly.

I think I may have missed a step so let me know how you get on and I will try to jog my memory further!

Hello mate.

Well, keep on with this forum if u can, cos ur wise words will be invaluable i reckon.

I was told that having delivery reports costs a penny a text? Is that wrong? I'm on a £30 contract, unlimited txts.

I've had the delivery reports on/off before, but i'm 99.9% sure that we'd still be missing some. We can still try what u said tho.

Sending 10 tho is def inconclusive tho cos we cud send 40 and they're fine but then 6 in one day wud go missing. This is my third streak, it's done it on each one, but this one only seems to miss at a rate of 3 or 4 every two days.

my partners new iphone4 is on orange. What was the lad u dealt with on?

I'm hoping that the 2.1 update may help iron a few things out. I do love the streak apart from the ongoing text issues.

I hope that we can get this problem fixed, you are obviously not alone and it seems that the common link is Streak to iPhone because the other lad was on o2.

Hopefully 2.1 will provide a long term answer, but for now try some of the steps I have suggested. I also remember turning call waiting and call divert on returning to the homescreen and then off. iPhones used to have call fail problems that could be fixed by following these steps, but I'm not sure if this made a difference. Finally have you got any text messages on the SIM? If so clear them off as they can sometimes cause problems. After you try all these steps restart both handsets.

Please keep me posted as the Guru's share all their solutions. I'm going to try to contact our Dell rep when I get back into work to see if is is a known problem and if they could add it to their bug list.

Hello mate. Im totally sick of this texting issue.

After i upgraded to 2.1 about 5 or 6 messages went missing. Over the last week it has gone back to ridiculous levels of texts never coming thru to me.

It ruined a night on wed which wed planned to go out on. And nearly did last night as i didnt receive 10 messages in a 4 hour period.

Again, we both number all our texts now, so we can identify the losses. But it is totally unacceptable for a few to go missing never mind the boat loads which have gone missing since i got it in june and this is my third streak. Its wasting my time and hers in reforwarding messages, numbering messages, and generally sorting out the chaos which it leaves us. Yet im still paying my £30 a month plus.... i got a warning which told me to immediately limit my internet usage. Ridiculous when it is 'unlimited' and i did actually ask the lad in the shop if there were any limits and he said 'it's unlimited' go on as long as u want.

Basically, im sick of it.

And also, its not just the iphone cos it was doing it to her old phone with the streak, and also her phones to my nokia ngage were perfectly fine. It IS the streak.

Ok, I'm sending it off on Firday/Saturday to O2 and it will be the 4th Streak I've had. All have had varying problems related to not receiving texts.

When I phoned the customer services she confirmed that a text text (2) had been sent (to myself). However I told her that I didnt actually receive either of those texts.

Ridiculous.

If it goes back once more after this I'm goin to get the HTC 2 I think. The Streak is taking the piss.

altho it start off well, the streak is now not receiving chunks of messages again. This is the fourth streak. If the new froyo update doesn't work i'm getting rid of the streak. it's gone on far too long. Awful.

The saga has ended. The 4th Streak is now not receiving just as many messages as the previous versions I've had. I've spoken to almost everyone at O2 I think. A staff member had a similar problem to me in fact.

Anyway, it's had more than enough patience from me. Nearly 6 months of having to number texts, loads going missing (even this morning, eight went missing when I had to meet my partner at a certain time - missed that appointment), one update (2.1) which was actually worse than 1.6 (and on the fourth Streak it came with 1.6 - 2.1 being no longer made available) and 4 Streaks, no more unpredictable phone annoyances, I've had enough and I'm getting an HTC phone instead. It is on its way to mine. Hope that is a lot better.

What a shame, the screen size is great.

I've not kept up with this thread.
Is this issue just being experienced by only O2 users?
Does the stock Messing app on Android 2.2 still have the same issues as the original 1.6 one did?

I'm now running Android 2.2 with the stock messaging app. I'm on the 3 UK network. Previously while running Android 1.6, I was using ChompSMS (as recommended here), but since the o/s upgrade I've not installed ChompSMS again. However this morning I've experienced my first lost text message - well first that I've been told about! I haven't received a message sent to me.

Should I be going back to ChompSMS or are there better messaging apps for 2.2?

I don't think I've missed any since I upgraded to 2.2, but I seem to get many of them sent again after I've deleted them. I normally use my laptop for emails, I'll check them against that and see if there are any discrepancies.
