"Crossing network" might be a matter. Sometimes, some cases that message transmitted between different networks, like from Orange to O2 or vise, may affect the message receiving and sending. For example, some messages might get lost or get delayed. As for why, ... it may involve different operators' Short Message Service Centers and equipments in whichs messages are relayed.

More, during different experiments, I think you can catch the "ADB log" of Streak. ADB log can tell what happened if messages really arrive Streak. I can read it for you.

=How to catch ADB log=
1.Get ADB applicaiton tool (ADB.exe) from "http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html" and store it in your PC (download the package "android-sdk_r06-windows.zip" to your PC)
2.Connect Streak and PC via USB
3.Open Windows' comand line/command mode
(go to Windows: start/run/, then type cmd)
4.In the pop-up window of cmd.exe, type the path where the ADB.exe is.
Visit the folder. (for example, the downloaded adb.exe is located in
E:\android_sdk_windows\tools\, just command "cd E:\android_sdk_windows
\tools\")
5.Command "adb logcat -b radio > test.txt" to start recording log
6.Immediately send messages to Streak
7.For a long enough while, after some messages come through and others
don't, press "CTRL + C" keys to end log recording.
8.After all, copy the log file "test.txt" from the ADB folder in your PC.

Hey guys.

Ok, so she's had her iphone 4 now since Saturday and since before today two messages have gone missing over the weekend and a further 3 have have vanished today.

It's getting ridiculous now. Her new iphone 4 receives texts from others as we've tested it and it once again receives everything from the Ngage when she sneds them to my streak and Ngage simultaneously.

I've just tried that ADB procedure Yan (without her being here) I sent the texts to myself.

The test document said server out of date? Is that the ADB tool it means?

Are there any firmware links to the streak?

So complicated, right?! iPhone's involved too.
By the way, you can send me log via mail "unlimitedunyieldinghope@gmail.com."
As for the "out of date," it'll not affect ADB operation and as you said it is supposed to mean the ADB service. ("Out of date" event just makes ADB server reboot merely.)

Others, in order to ensure connection between PC and Streak, turnning on the option of "USB debugging" in Streak (settings\applications\development\USB debugging) is required. (Sorry about this, I should highlight this point early.)

The situation is more and more getting like ... network issue while every phones got problem.
What happened in iPone, duplicated message came thorough, is probably because one of them:

1.Network thought iPhone didn't receive message although iPhone had.
2.iPhone had not responsed network getting message successfully, and network resent messages.

I guess iPhone used different network's service from the sending phone at that time.

I just wanted to do a quick burst test, the behaviours are definitely a bit iffy. I was in the other room on my ancient but robust n70 and proceeded to bash out 25 test SMS messages to my Streak.

Within about 2-3 seconds of hitting send on each one, the notification beeps on my Streak were going off in the other room...

.. until we hit messages 14-25, none of which have arrived yet.

The conversation 'thread' in the Streak has 15 messages in it (because I sent 2 multi-part texts from the Streak to the n70) and just doesn't seem interested in any more.

Very odd indeed, will have to do some more tinkering. Hopefully there's not some silly 'anti-spam' rules in place along the line because that would be both funny and sad.

Well what do you know, I figured after posting I'll 'threaten' my n70 into coughing up the goods and then all the missing ones came flooding in. Coincidence, connectivity, or coersion... take your pick

Well guys, the plot thickens.

It's still not receiving texts now and again even with her new iphone (it's already lost 3 this morning). We're gonna test it tonight using Yan's method, but I think it's gonna have to go back to Dell (cos O2 wont give me another brand new replacement) as it's simply annoying the hell out of both of us.

I'm sure other people will find the same problem occurring it's just a matter of when.

On a side note....

I just ordered this case for it for a fiver from Ebay.

Mobile phone case for Dell Streak on eBay (end time 31-Jul-10 20:35:37 BST)

Could the comments in this other thread help explain things ?

SMS messages turning into MMS messages ...

Maybe if the Streak tries to send long SMSs as MMS then it's also confused on reassembling long incoming ones ?

Hello peter.

It's not that problem because i'm now using chomp sms which doesn't limit ur sms to 3 and i haven't received short (1 text length) sms' and long ones from her either. It's so frustrating. There's no set pattern for it apart from it happens everyday, and is annoying the life out of us.

We still haven't tried yans test because she hasn't been round for long enough to try it, but we will definately do it over the next week and email the results to yan as requested. My ngage continues to receive every single messgage which she sends it.

Hi there, newbie here.

I am wondering if your problem may be with Android and not the Streak. My girlfriend has just got a HTC Wildfire and I have noticed that sometimes she doesn't get all my texts. At first I thought she was just to busy playing with her new phone but we have had an hour pass without getting a text.

I am using a Samsung Tocco Ultra on Orange and she has the HTC Wildfire on Vodafone. Yesterday I sent her a text which she never received and she sent me two texts which I never received until I got home.

Steve
