Ok....

I did what Dunham said and reset to factory settings and as she's been at my house overnight we tried sending texts this morning once the Streak had been reset.

A few missing ones from previous days came through but out of 14, I was missing 3 texts, and that's with the factory defaults set. The Ngage, as always, received them all.

I sent Kirky AKA nozl 20 texts (plus a couple extra) from my Streak, and they all arrived OK, as did a couple from him to me. It's very strange!

Yeah, I don't understand it. Even if my partner got a different phone, the fact remains that it cud happen to another one of my friends if it's happening with her one, so it doesn't solve the issue when she gets her new phone.

Ok I'm pretty much sick of it now.

I even took the sim card out of my pay and go ngage (which has been receiving all of the texts) and switched it into the streak, and put the streak sim into the ngage.

I got her to send 20 alpha texts (e.g. A,B,C etc) to both phones (which now have their sims switched)..... AGAIN though, the sim which is in the streak received up to H, then got nothing to P, R,T,U. Whatever is in the Ngage received all test texts chronologically.

I took it back into the O2 shop and spoke to the 'guru' who suggested deleting the name off contacts and re-adding it. This has been done before, and of course I did a further factory reset yesterday. He said because they have switched the phone once they can't switch it again and would have to be sent off to Dell. What a ball-ache this is now.

He said he's gone over all the alternatives and itlooks like it's the other phone, but again I repeated that my Ngage receives all her texts, so do her friends because she's done tests and of course as I've just said, I switched my Ngage sim with my Streak sim and it worked fine on Ngage but not on Streak.


I'm totally sick now like.

May I ask if both the used SIM cards are O2's pay and go cards? In all your cases, message funciton doesn't work well, has Streak ever used other operator's SIM card?

More, which kind/model of mobile phone does she use? and ... while different model of phone sending multiple page message to Streak, did this same problem, some pages lost, happen?

Hello Yan.

My sim in the Streak is monthly contract unlimited data and text for £30 per month. I put a pay and go sim in the Ngage the day I bought the streak, so I could use it as emergency and or if I went out someone I thought it may break or something, bike rides etc. Both on O2

She is on Orange but up until I had my sim upgraded from the 30day rolling contract which I was originally on my ngage (pre-streak) everything worked fine with our texts.

She is coming round at lunch time and we are going to try and swap her orange sim into my ngage and vice versa to see how that goes. I'll report back when I've done it.

Yap, you can try that way, exchanging SIM cards of her and n gaga's.
From the first post to the latest one, there're some clues observed in the fist 3 items bellow.

1.Streak (with O2) to Streak (with O2): work well
2.Her phone (with Orange) to Streak (with O2): not work well
3.Her phone (with Orange) to N gage (with O2): work well
4.her phone (with O2) to Streak (with O2):
5.her phone (with O2) to N gage (with Orange):
6.another phone that’s different brand from her (with Orange) to Streak(with O2):

You wanna try the 4th and 5th by my understanding. I think the 6th is also worth to do. If the 6th works well, there might be different way to expalin why the problem is, I guess privately.

My ancient Nokia phone is on Orange PAYG; I checked that with the Streak and didn't have any problems. It was only one text, though.

Hello yan.

We were about to try those extra changes with her phone/sim combos, but she said its locked to orange so it wouldnt work in the ngage and vice versa. my brothers iphone is orange so i think il try some variations with her phone and his phone sending to the streak.

Does auto retrieve messages while roaming have any role to play in this? Or is that only if you go abroad?
