Warning - Tubemate & Vaulty Conflict - 04-03-2011, 06:16 AM
And the saga may have come to an end.
I up-loaded a movie from one of my own DVDs - and that too displayed in the Gallery as a frame from the long deleted Vaulty, -the frame Tubemate and other Tube downloaders had an obsession with.
Things looked to be getting worse.
Then I saw another non Streak user had a problem with Vaulty (different problem). The files wouldn't go back to where they came from, it would delete them. But he mentioned a "File Manager" (no name).
I thought a File Manager might help me, and discovered a free app called "Explorer". Perhaps it would reveal some file I might find as the cause of my problems.
It did show me all the files, on the SC card, and though sometimes they weren't obvious by name, I worked on recent creation dates, and deleted all of those files, knowing the device did not need such recent entries.
And I think I did perceive the one related to Vaulty, though that name was not mentioned. It was deleted too.
But I should mention that root files can't be viewed by this app. but it will tell you the file is rooted, and refers you to a paid app. However, there is a good free app for rooted files called "Super Manager".
I also deleted or thought I had deleted the movie I downloaded earlier, as I didn't want it showing in Gallery with the image from "Vaulty".
My aim was to see if it was re-uploaded, would it appear in the Gallery with the same photo from Vaulty.
When I connected up the Streak, the computer told me there was already such a folder in the Streak. Did I want to replace it? Yes, please!
The movie transferred into the Streak and guess what the presentation image was in Gallery!!!!! A frame from the movie!!!!! Yippee
It seems therefore the ghost frames from Vaulty have been deleted courtesy of the file manager App. "Explorer".
And just a reminder that whilst you can look at your downloaded apps via "Settings" - "Applications", you can't see what files there are, - they are not the same thing (but part of your apps).
So download an App. for viewing files. I like "Explorer" because it is quite simple.
One last thing, - though you think you deleted some items, like movies, - some of them are still on the card taking up storage space. A File Manager will reveal them, so they can be deleted once and for all.

It seems that when I was trying to contact Theron Williams about his Vaulty App. I came across a message from him.
I sent an email and instead of being an email direct to him, it seems to have been posted to that forum.
He never did respond on the forum, but some other members had the same problem, whilst others had other problems. So, - lots of problems.
I had a gander at that forum today, and there was my message to him, and a lot with problems since.
Earlier today, in response to the Gmail I had from that forum today, I used the forum's "contact" address, which did not add my reply to the forum itself.
So, when I had the look at the forum and found my previous mail to Theron Williams, I was able to reply and give the solution, without logging in.
I noticed there was a field for placement of email address, and I woild have used it for Theron Williams to respond.
So, no not Big Brother Android, and the members of that forum probably didn't see the messages on this one, otherwise I would not have received the Gmail this morning.
