"Antivirus Free" by Creative Applications is such an app. In the notifications bar of your Streak, it lets you know that the app you downloaded was scanned as it downloaded and that it was clean. It apparently defends the system from malware being introduced. Antivirus Free is in the "Tools" section of the Android Market and it's widget/icon is an android tanding guard with a blue shield. The two above applications work both similarly and differently. "Webroot" does a complete scan of all apps you have, on demand. Antivirus Free also has a long list of advocates as you will see. ![]() You can never have too much protection! |

It requires a password, - which isn't the one you log in with. Unless you remembered the password you gave Webroot when you downloaded the App. - GET RID of Webroot Security ASAP before you get locked out. I contacted them for assistance. ![]() Not such a great malware app. after all, - as though it works well, it is obviously unstable. *** Update - When I was on the PC Webroot site, I also could not remember my password to log into it, never having used it before. I asked it to send me a new password, and it allowed me to do that. So, I entered a new password. Whilst it accepted the new password, it still would open their site. Bother and frustration!!!! However, a few minutes after typing the first part of this message, I tried that password on the phone, and it unlocked. I am back in business. I will keep Webroot for now, but I wrote down the new password in case this happens again. Fortunately when dealing with them, I quoted my GMail address, which must have been the one I used when I downloaded the App. Had I forgotten this and used one of my other email addresses, the automated system might have been uncooperative. So if you can't remember your password and get locked out, you will need to know what email address you used, in order to request a password reset. http://my.webroot.com is the place to go. Otherwise, - delete their App. before you do get locked out. |

I was able to get a password reset - which wouldn't let me log in to their main site, - but the reset went to the phone. So, I was only locked up for minutes, much to my relief. I note McAphee have a free antivirus which is likely to be excellent, and of course AVG, another excellent antivirus. I may swap Webroot to McAphee - which everyone uses on their work computers. |
