Webroot is the name of a widely acclaimed range of anti malware & anti spyware computer software products.

They have a free app for android mobiles, and I think it a must to have. It is called "Webroot Security". Just a search for "Webroot" should find it.

When you launch this app. it first updates itself with the latest malware definitions it needs to check that there is no Trojan malware hidden in your apps that could spread infection within your device, or that you could pass on.

It does this very quickly, so ...perhaps a few seconds.

Then there is another part of it that can remotely clear your phone of data if it is stolen.

It can also remotely lock the phone from being used by the thief.

And it can be made to make the phone "scream", if you misplaced it.

Now, as this app is made by a commercial company of high regard in the computer security industry, not by someone in their bedroom, it can be recommended.

It is good to see some big companies making apps for use at no cost.

I noticed when I turned my Steak on this morning, that on the notification bar at the top of the screen, it could be seen that Webroot Security was automatically updating definitions.

Which means you do not need to open the app manually for it to be updated.

And there is always the notification, "You are protected".

Today I was watching Al Jazeera news from Doha via the app. I mentioned a while ago.

At the bottom of the screen (in settings for this app) as I went to close it down, was mention of "Other TV".

I decided to check out what was available, but in the blink of an eye, Webroot issued a warning that the site was acting suspiciously or hosted a lot of spam.

Well, the only good Span comes in tins, as we all know.

Whether it was right or wrong ... I backed off and decided not to proceed.

So, you can see that Webroot is very quick to react and warn if things are not quite right.

Those of you who downloaded this great app. will be pleased to know they announced by notification to me (and others) that the Beta app. has concluded service.

And as a reward for having tried and used it, users have been rewarded with the paid version.

So, if you already have Webroot, just run your application, and it will convert to the paid version, - which has similar appearance to the other.

You must be careful with this app.

It is good, but you MUST write down your password and don't lose it.

This app, like this morning announced again that the phone was locked.

Why does it sometimes do this?

If you don't remember your Webroot password, you will have no end of bother.

Luckily, I made it an easy one to remember & unlocked it straight away.

I think there are still bugs in this app.
