Go for a well known brand and you should be ok.

I would also expect Google to start paying more attention to the apps in the market (better late than never, assuming you haven't already been infected).
Personally I think they should pay a lot more attention, some of the language used in the comments is seriously offensive. Younger android users shouldn't be exposed to the foul wimperings of the unintelligent.

SORRY! rant over.

I realize the distinction is lost on most people. But they're not viruses (self-propagating bits of malware), they're TROJANS, software that seems good or useful, but is actually malicious... like the Trojan Horse .

That said, don't let this revelation scare you away from an Android device. There will always be malware, in the Android store, on iPods from the factory, on retail CDs (Sony rootkit), etc.

Just be careful, and you seldom be bit.

The difference between virus's and trojans is indeed lost on most people. But the solution for most is an anti-virus package so the distinction is irrelevant.

The problem of course is that you are still likely to get infected because the anti virus firms are always playing catch up.
