Hey all, the time has come, and I must sell my beloved Mini 9. Unfortunately. Can't sell it running OsX per this forums rules and ebays. Thus I am trying to either restore it to its original linux state, or get it running windows xp. You can see the specs of my install in my signature. I haven't tried updating this machine in over a year, so it's still running 10.5.8.

I tried booting from a USB image of an xp install, but the loader just skipped it and booted like regular back into OsX. Even when I changed the boot order to have USB devices first, it still booted into OsX. Does anyone have any thoughts as to how I might be able to wipe this machine and restore to xp or linux (I still have the original linux install disc that came with the machine.

I would check the BIOS settings to be sure USB Legacy is enabled.

Usually you would have that disabled when running OS X, you probably turned it off when setting it up and forgot about it.

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think you can list it here with XP without a valid COA for it, so Linux is most likely your best bet if you are going to list it here.

Thanks for the reply! I tried enabling Legacy USB but it still boots into OSX. I've got a RunCore in there and I suppose I could manually take it out, plug in via USB and format the drive, but I'd like to avoid doing that if possible. Any other thoughts? Thanks so much for responding so quickly! Definitely understand the valid XP key concern. I think I have a few extra laying around the house from old machines that no longer work, so I may use one of those and package it with the machine.

If you don't have the XP Dell shipped it with, then just wipe the SSD or put Linux on it.

Thanks, sounds like pulling the drive and wiping it is the best move. In fact, I think I may still have the original 4gb sad that came with it, with Linux still preinstalled. I might just swap those two out and sell them separately.
