Default Newbie moron question about direct install - 12-08-2011, 01:58 PM

Hi,

I've hackintoshed in the past with SL on a USB stick, but want to try a direct install now via Mechdrew's guide( Method 4: Direct Install from Mac to SSD/HDD | Guides | OS X | mechdrew.)

1. I am getting a new Runcore 32gb SSD: is that compatible? Mechdrew seems to say so, but I like to be sure.

2. I don't understand how to "connect your HDD/SSD to the Mac." With what? How? I have an iMac, so know I have to "use an enclosure." But I don't know what that means.

Sorry to be so clueless, and thanks for help
Laura

An enclosure is like a case with a sata to usb converter, once installed you can connect the ssd to the pc regularly (like any usb device)

- Dell Inspiron duo: - Backtrack
- Win 7
-Win 8
- Ubuntu 11.10
-Toshiba 205: - Mac OSX 10.6.7

The RunCore SSD has a sub-USB connector on it and comes with the proper cord to allow you to plug it into the SSD and then connect it to a USB port like any other portable USB hard drive.

An enclosure is offered, but isn't necessary to do an install.
