Default Help!! - 07-13-2011, 09:28 AM

Hey forum!

I've a dell mini with two SSDs. One the 8gb default (with working windows installed) and the second a 16gb ssd which I want to install OS X on.

I've managed to install OSX on the 16gb, but stupidly upgraded to 10.6.8. So I wiped the drive. Now when I attempt to boot the drive, I get:

"Unable to patch 64bit kernel. Please use arch=i386 to use a 10.6.2 or newer kernel. Can't final mach_kernel."

However, If I remove the 16gb SSD and reinstall the 8gb windows one, I can boot it fine.

I thought it was something to do with how it was formatted, so I formatted it to fat32, no joy. Added a boot partition, no joy. I even installed Windows XP and it still refuses to boot up..

Any suggestions??

since you've formatted your SSD, so I suggest you to use diskpart to perform "clean" command to your SSD and convert it to GPT, repartition it (no need to reformat it), and reinstall OS X on to it.

I don't suggest you to perform "clean all" command, since it's an SSD.
