Default boot loader issues on upgrade from 10.6.4 to 10.6.6 - 02-15-2011, 01:56 AM

I installed 10.4.6 no problem via USB drive and netbookbootmaker. worked perfectly.
When I went to update to 10.6.6 It tells me to turn it off and back on and repeats this no matter how many times I do just that, which I believe means it can't find the partition with the OS on it in this case. However, when I put the USB drive in and boot to it, I can select the OSX partition and it boots into it perfectly and I run it with 10.6.6. I believe this is a boot file issue, where the HDD boot file just doesn't know where to look to find the OS while the USB drive does. Anyone seen this or understand what I am saying well enough to help?
