Default new mini 9 and osx install. - 08-03-2010, 07:43 AM

Hi All.

I'm a newbie around here.

I have just brought my first mini 9 and was wondering if anyone could help me out with a couple of questions. Sorry if they have already been answered. I did do a search but couldn't find what I was looking for.

I would like to run osx on my mini but I only have 8gb hd is that big enough? (I have a 32gb SD card so wouldn't need space for storage on my main hd)

I am planning to use this guide
NetbookInstaller 1: USB Installation via Mac | Guides | OS X | mechdrew but is it ok to do this using the snow leopard upgrade disk Mac OS X Snow Leopard v. 10.6 (Mac DVD): Software or do I need the full £120+ dvds?

Would osx just install straight over windows or would I need to format?

Any thing else I should know?

Many Thanks for any help.

The upgrade disc will work. If you can find an older one that is 10.6.0 it is slightly easier. Most of the new stock are 10.6.3, which some people have had issues with.

You might be able to score one on eBay.

When you begin the install process on the mini 9, you will format the disc which will get rid of Windows. This begins at step 7 in the section titled ON THE NETBOOK.
