10.6.3 Combo fails- Notify manufacturer? - 06-21-2010, 02:31 PM
Ok, followed great instructions here (installed with netbookbootinstaller 0.8.4RC, Snow Leopard retail disc to 8GB USB to 64GB Runcore..formatted as GUID).
After install, copied over 10.6.3 Combo and ran it. After 20', the install ended with Failed to Install error.... Contact manufacturer. Booting resulted in KPs.
BTW, the Mini 9 was HOT (as in VERY WARM).
My BIOS is A05.
Previously- I had 10.5.6 running on a 16GB SSD fine and can swap back to that. It used to think it was a Macbook Air back then. Now, it thinks it's an Inspiron. I think that is the issue...installer realizes it is NOT a mac.
Can I get some assistance? Should I just do 10.6.4 Combo? Or leave it pre-10.6.3? I can't keep wiping, re-installing. Maybe do the install to the Runcore as a USB drive then just plug in?

Um, I think I missed a step! LOL!
I just read mechdrews guide (Method 4: Direct Install from Mac to SSD/HDD | Guides | OS X | mechdrew) and realized I could have just mounted the 64GB SSD (Runcore) to my Mac via USB, done the install and THEN RUN THE NBI on it! That is where I think I missed something. I'll try again tonight...
Oh drawing board...
