after purchasing a mini 9 on ebay to replace a stolen macbook, i'm trying to get things going nicely with a 10.5.8 install. basically, everything is 100% golden except for the audio, which seems to want to work but makes a quiet "clicking" sound constantly, and "real" sounds flicker in and out. my sound output device is named "IntSpeakers" and is type "DevShortNameOut", if that helps narrow things down.
here's what i've done:
-i have a 10.5.6 install disk, so i've turned that into a bootable flash drive and installed onto the 32GB runcore drive.
-i ran dellefi1.2a5 to get things working. this led to the same situation described above, but with no sound output devices listed at all.
-i then updated to 10.5.8 via software update (combined update), got the white liney screen, rebooted in safe mode, re-dellefi-ed my mini, and rebooted just fine. everything worked 100% ok, except that there were still no listed sound devices and i had no audio.
-i followed a brief guide to switch from dellefi to NBI 0.8.3 using the default settings, which seems to be the latest NBI version that goes with 10.5.8. everything except audio still works great. now i have SOME sound, but it's the situation i described in the first paragraph: i have an output device listed in prefs, but it's basically unusable because of the clicking and flickering.
any thoughts on how i might be able to get audio working properly? i've spent the last 2 days rummaging around this forum and google, but to no avail. i see tons of stories of people that claim to have things 100% working, including audio, so i assume that this isn't mission impossible.
i would prefer to be able to just get 10.5.8 with audio up and running, since i do have a legal license for 10.5 and don't really want to drop another 30 bucks for 10.6 into my new toy unless it's absolutely necessary.
