Smile Dell Mini 9 Hackintosh Boot Problems!!! - 05-10-2010, 05:42 AM

Hi Everybody, I have a Dell Mini 9 hackintosh currently with Leopard 10.5.7

I used the Dell EFI method in order to get the os installed on the netbook, however, I'm still having some issues. When I start up off the SSD, the system only boots properly when I use the -x modifier. The -x tells the system to boot into safe mode.

Whenever I try booting normally, the computer shows the apple logo, loads, and then shows a very garbled and unusable screen forcing me to reboot.

Is anybody else having this problem? Is there a better or easier method I should use for installing this OS?

Is there any way of fixing my current problem without reinstalling?

I had the same problem. Is it the Apple gray screen telling you to hold down the button? If it is I think you have to reinstall. But I would use mechdrew's method using NBI. You also might want to buy a retail copy of OS X. It has tons less problems then downloaded DMG's. And Apple tends to loose support for their previous OS's fast.

So I would say reinstall with SL using Mechdrew's method. That what I did and it works like a real Mac. I am actually typing this response on my Vostro A90 10.6.3

-Oblivian Studios

Dell Vostro A90 w/ AWESOME Custom Apple Sticker; 32GB RunCore SSD; 2GB RAM; Webcam; Bluetooth; 10.6.3; 16GB Class 6 SDHC.

Note: To get sleep working I turned off BOTH Legacy and Wake Support.

I have an external cd drive so I have been using a retail Leopard 10.5 dvd.

I wasn't getting the grey screen telling me to push the power button, however, it could have been. The screen appears very garbled and unusable. Kind of like a solid grey screen with some lines in it and a ghost of a stretched out pointer.

I will look into Mechdrew's method.
