Thanks for your comments.
I don't know how I missed the space in the cp command. It is fixed now.
As for not having a password, I was not aware of that.

Could you check if the HDA extension is in the /System/Library/Extensions/ folder?

One needs to be administrator to do this.
Many steps will need authentication.

If your sound is not working then do the following:

I. Run NBI RC1 and choose
  1. install bootloader
  2. install ... extensions
  3. regenerate a system specific DSDT ...

The other options are up to you.
When done,

II. Run "UpdateExtra" in the "/Extra/" folder.
III. Download the files I have on my first message to this thread.
IV. Restart.
V. Replace the DSDT in "/Extra/" by the dsdt you downloaded from here.
VI. Copy the extension AppleHDA.kext to the folder "/System/Library/Extensions/" via the Finder
VII. Run diskutility to fix permission. <----Important
VIII. Run the following command in terminal:
(copy exactly as I have here, make sure that the folder name is right for the Mini 9)
sudo cp -R /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext /Extra/A90Ext/ <--- for Vostro
sudo cp -R /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext /Extra/Mini9Ext/<--- for Mini 9
Note: my Vostro has A90Ext, on a Dell Mini 9 the name is (apparently) Mini9
IX. Run "UpdateExtra" in the /Extra/ folder.
X. Restart and you are done. Sound should be working.

HINTS: to go to the /Extra/ folder (invisible) type shift-cmd-g or select "Go to Folder" from the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.

Need help ask!

This is by far the easiest method of all posts I have seen.
It worked on the first try.
Thanks for the good work.

One question:
Is there no way to incorporate the files into the NBI so that it updates the kext without the terminal process?
