Default Snow Leopard Install Can't See SSD - 02-26-2010, 07:19 AM

I've been following this guide:

NetbookInstaller 2: USB Mac Installation via Any Operating System | Guides | OS X | mechdrew

to get Snow Leopard on my Mini 10. After spend a long time trying to get the bootloader to see my usb stick so I could run the installer, the installer (and Disk Utility but the boot loader does) doesn't see the 32gb SSD.

Any suggestions?

Edit:

Oh yes, i forgot to add that I downgraded the bios to A04 from A07 hoping that was the issue, no luck.

edit2:

and i just realized i posted this in the wrong place >.< if a mod could move it to the appropriate location, that would be awesome.

Update:

I went to frys and picked up a normal 160gb HDD and swapped that in to see if it was the SDD itself. The installer isn't picking up that either.

Sounds like you've not done this in the Installation instructions:

  1. Go to Menu Bar>Utilities>Disk Utility....
  2. Select the icon for the internal drive.
  3. Go to the Partition tab. Configure:
    • Volume Scheme: 1 Partition
    • Name: <Any name without a space in it.>
    • Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    • Options...: GUID Partition Table, press OK.

That's the problem, the internal drive isn't there to select. I'm only getting the two USB sticks.

pwolfamv, did you have any luck with the hard drive being recognized under disk utility? I am experiencing the same issue with the Mini 10 I just received.

I originally ordered the 10v, but finally figured out they really sent me at Mini 10 after digging deeper on why my install is having so many issues! grr.
