Default No sound with a clean Leopard install using NBI 0.8.3 release - 01-11-2010, 06:02 PM

I just did a CLEAN install of Leopard and the sound drivers do not appear to be working at all. I searched and read many threads on different issues involving the audio in the Mini 9, but I could not find this exact problem. Using the 0.8.3 alpha release NBI build, I did not get anything listed in the Sound System Preference. I went back to the 0.8.3 RC4 NBI and was able to get audio working. I then reran the 0.8.3 release and it seems to be working fine. It appears the release installer is not working correctly.

Use the file that I just attached. Just unzip it, run, and reboot. you should be fine.

P.S. have you also had any keyboard issues? the on-board keyboard not working in OS X?

I also just did a fresh install of 10.5, then combo update to 10.5.8, and no sound drivers. I used Meklort's latest 0.8.3 netbookmaker, and bootmaker programs. Will run this tonight once I get home. And i'll let yall know if it worked.

No keyboard problems from the built-in keyboard. But Bluetooth was acting a little funny, and forgetting I had my apple wireless keyboard paired.

I am pretty annoyed since I specifically downgraded to 10.5.8 because sound was working in 10.5.8 before, but broke when I went to 10.6. I tried doing a fresh install of 10.6 after a week of me messing with sound drivers, with no success. I tried 10.6, and then a 10.6.2 combo update, which didn't help. So i'm back in 10.5.8, and still no sound.

Can you tell me more about this file?

My current audio situation is what results from following a guide that I wrote a couple months back:

DellMini9 Runcore SSD/10.6.1/NI 083 RC3 (Full Sound, Sleep, Reliable Restart!)

Could I run your file and get static free sound and a working mic, both which work after sleep?

Thanks.

OSX 10.6.4

It is a file I had found on the internet when I too was having audio issues. The sound works perfectly for me with it. (dunno bout mic cause I never use it), no pops or anything. I only used it back with 10.5, 10.6 is what I am running now, and I've yet for a need for this file in 10.6 But then again I never use the mic, so....YMMV

P.S. use the latest revision of NBI, reboot, and if sound still does not work, use this file and reboot.

THANKS!!! The ALC268 Installer file painlessly fixed my sound.

Eventually I worked out that the System > Sound Output had disappeared after the upgrade to 10.5.8. Yes I know it took me a while to fix it :-)

Cheers
Paul
