i originally posted in the "Dell Mini 9 Audio with Microphone without VoodooHDA" thread but didn't get any replies yet... i just have two quick questions if anyone can help.
right now my system is mac os 10.6.2, using NBI 0.83rc4. im using the "Sound and mic working with AppleHDA" method for sound, and getting the static noise every 5 seconds or so.
first, when setting up the old AppleHDA method, i used the Kext Helper app. i assume this means it was installed into the /System/Library folder instead of the /Extras. the new method requires the *unmodified* AppleHDA.kext, which i have a copy of, but my question is should i use Kext Helper again so it will overwrite the modified file currently in the /System/Library folder, or manually delete it from there and put the new unmodified file in the /Extras folder?
secondly, i would like to upgrade to the final NBI 0.83, i want to know if i should upgrade to 0.83 first, and then fix the sound? or the other way around?
if anyone can help, even just a quick pointer in the right direction would be great right now.
thanks,
derek
