Default OSX Wifi Card Replacement help please - 01-06-2010, 11:26 PM

Hello Dell community.
I am working on my teachers dell mini 9.
I installed OSX snow leopard on it and everything seems to be working perfect.
The only problem is that the Wifi does not work.
I swapped the wifi card with mine to test if it was just a bad one, but still no wifi.

Now, my question is. Where can I go (online or in store) to buy a replacement wifi card? and which one will I be needing?? I hear people say the Apple wifi card works well, but it overheats, and I am a little worried about that.

Hi and Greetings from Singapore...

I am so surprised you are asking this considering I was experiencing your same problem you listed on 12-08-2009 as per your post on

I am having the same results as him.
There's no wifi on my Mini 9 OSX. Its stuck in the off mode and I cannot turn it on.
I used a retail copy of the OS.
I also thought I had a bad broadcom wifi card but it was resolved easily by reverting back to Windows XP..after install load the wifi drivers from the Dell Utilities & Drivers CD and you need to activate wifi back on manually as per the steps listed on

FN + 2 (WIFI BUTTON) Not working.......

It's this one:

Dell Battery Meter/Wireless Select Switch
Release Date: 9/10/2008
Version:, A00

(or select 'Other versions' on the published version, A00)

Works on XP and Vista.
You must make sure you..."..FN-2 brings up the "Wlss" wireless option application that lets you choose Wi-Fi, BT (if installed), both or neither.

NOTE: I tried pressing Fn+F2 but still not work so right click on icon WISS(green logo one) ,NOT the std Wifi icon..and sure enough the horizontal menu comes out.The click to activate yr wifi...

END RESULT: "....and turning on the radio via the hidden driver also fixed the non-functioning wifi problem I had after my first install of OSX. After installing the driver and turning on the radio in XP, my second try at an OSX install went completely flawlessly..."

Phew..problem solved..
