you can try using this:
Sound and mic working with AppleHDA
Apple TV | 160GB | CrystalHD
Powermac G5 Tower | 2x 2.0GHZ | 8GB Ram | 160+250 GB HDD | OS X 10.5.8 Leopard | 24" Acer

2. audio out (headphone jack)
3. internal mic
4. audio in (mic jack)
5. works after sleep
There are currently ~4 methods for audio on the DM9:
1. Voodoo (gets everything, but has static/pop)
2. AppleHDA from the post you specified (gets everything - for some people - some sleep issues with significantly less but not gone static/pop than Voodoo)
3. Default Netbook Installer - latest - uses an AppleHDA solution I believe (all but no mic support)
4. This one (gets everything - for some people - most people no sleep issues - no static/no pop - does not seem to be compatible with sub 10.6.2)

can you attach that 'virgin' applehda file to this thread? The link requires membership now...

I am sooo frustrated!
I have a fresh 10.6.2 install on my Mini 9.
I tried editing my own dsdt file, grabbed the appleHDA file out of the latest netbook installer (I think this is the one I want - it was inside the zip) and grabbed the alc268 file from the other forum- still nothing
I tried using the dsdt file you posted, bikinifarm, and the computer boots no problem, but still no microphone in about this computer
Any ideas? Maybe I need another copy of the appleHDA file? can you attach it to this thread?

He attached a non edited applehda on page 2.
Do not use the dsdt file he posted thats only to compare it to yours if you are getting errors like I was. When he posted it in responses to me.

hey everyone, couple quick questions before i try doing this...
i have a dm9 with 10.6.2, with rc 0.83rc4. im currently using the "Sound and mic working with AppleHDA" method for sound.
i would like to upgrade to the final 0.83, and also use this method for sound. i would like to know if i should upgrade to 0.83 first, and then fix the sound? or the other way around?
and another issue is i did not copy the applehda kexts to the /Extras folder, but instead used Kext Helper app which i assume put them into the /Library folder instead? do i need to delete the file out of there?
thanks in advance for the help... my mini works perfect right now (other than the long boots caused by the applehda) and i want to be double sure before i mess with anything.

As clearly indicated in this thread, do not use my dsdt, instead use your own. You can compare yours to mine, and figure out differences, which is why I submitted it.

Regarding the /Extra folder vs. /S/L/E, the reason why I put it to /Extra is because that's where meklort was keeping it, as his was a modified AppleHDA. Again, I'd like to keep things shifted around to a minimum extent behind meklort's installer. If you want to experiment, and find out whether it works that way, try it. I do not see any reason why it should not work in the folder where it originally belongs, but I have not tested it.

I'm trying to wrap my head around all of this as I am new to both OSX and Dell Minis in general. With 10.6.1 is there any solution to get the mic and no hiss or sleep problems? NBI 8.3 Final has gotten me headphone sound, but the elusive mic has gotten the best of me.
