As for incorporating it into Netbook Installer for 8.4 RC1, I got this response from Meklort on his blog:
"It depends on how well it works. If it’s problem free, then I’d have no problem adding it. If, on the other hand, is sounds horrible, then I won’t include it (horrible as defined by me, which means if it annoys me, it’s not included).

0.8.4 will focus less on new features kext wise, and more on features app wise......"

So hopefully (since it seems almost everyone is able to get it working so far on 10.6.2) it will be but manually should work just fine for now.

So i followed the steps and the sound works but still no mic. I ran through the steps again but still no mic. Maybe its a problem with the hardware? It worked back under RC3.

Do you have audio at all?
If not, the dsdt trick did not work. Check for errors.

Make sure you follow the instructions on the first page of this thread, as this is specific to Mini 9 / Vostro 90 as opposed to more general instructions on the flames thread. You will need to download the kext from his thread through.

One thing to check is the original version of AppleHDA.kext. Compare it to the version posted a few posts up.

Yea the audio works great, just no mic using ichat or rosetta stone. I pulled the AppleHDA from the /sys/lib/backupext the name is highlighted in yellow for some reason though.

The version i have is 1.6.8a3,

anyone able to post the stock AppleHDA for me?

Seems like that's the problem. Try this 'virgin' AppleHDA (1.7.9a4)

AppleHDA.kext

thanks trying that now, would you also be able to post your IOAudioFamily.kext

I patched it trying to get audio working in this thread:

Sound and mic working with AppleHDA

that might also be the problem.

audio still works and get info shows the correct version number for applehda

Maybe I just need to format and reinstall

In my case, About This Mac/More Info/Audio (Built In) shows

Device ID: 0x102802B2
Audio ID: 12
Available Devices:
Speaker:
Connection: Internal
Headphone:
Connection: 1/8-Inch Jack
Line In:
Connection: 1/8-Inch Jack
Internal Microphone:
Connection: Internal

If yours does too, then it really should work.
