Have tried using both the new and older iASL apps as linked to on the first post of the insanelymac thread, but it's the same on both occasions. Have ran permissions repair in Disk Utility a few times since install SL and on both occasions have been returned a lot of warnings, as an example the first one from the last log reads "Warning: SUID file "Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access.app/Contents/Resources/kcproxy" has been modified and will not be repaired." Haven't tried reparing disk permissions since iASLme fail, should I ?

Only one account set up on the box so am logged in as Admin. No other apparent glitches in using the box so far since install, apart from the card reader being non functioning (am not alone it seems).

Anyone got a suggestion as to what could the matter be ? Intended the mini9 as my wifes own little mini mac, for skype + browsing, so would appreciate any help getting built-in mic working. I used the NBM final via USB method for install, ran combo update to 10.6.2, followed mechdrews instructions to the letter (bit confused now though as some would appear to advise that NBI should be ran before restarting after update to 10.6.2, as opposed to update-restart-and then run NBI, so am worried that maybe that's what's wrong).

Any suggestions ? Or should I just simply re-install from scratch and try again ?
Oh, I know, do not compile/decompile in /Extra folder. You do not have privileges to write there, unless you log in as root. (don't recommend it as first you need to set-up the root account, normal admin account will not cut it.) I usually do the editing on the desktop, and copy the file back giving my password.

AppleHDA.kext.zip
Thanks it's working now !

Thank you Bikinifarm for the tip off on decompiling the backup dsdt.aml as opposed to the one that resides in the /Extra folder. Tried it on the backup and it decompiled without any problems.

Spent a while pasting the bodies of text from flames post - wasn't exactly sure as to where he intended folk to paste the text, having never before needed to tweak any system files or use terminal extensively it was a bit out of my depth. I just copied flames text from the insanelymac thread, recomp went without hitch (no errors, 34 optimizations), copied the AppleHDA.kext from System/Library/Extensions and the ALC268.kext etc. Reboot and wayhey, all audio works, am most appreciative of everybody's tips on this thread, great stuff.

Thanks to all involved in this process, my Mini9 is now a complete and working OS X 10.6.2 machine. I can attest, the audio is near perfect now, no static or erratic behavior. Now I just have to break out the soldering gear and install my LED status light and internal USB thumb drive.

I have this problem:

Task: DeCompile

"/Users/usuario/Desktop/DSDT.aml"
to
"/Users/usuario/Desktop/DSDT.dsl"

Start working ...

DeCompiling ... /tmp/.plx_tmp: line 232: /Users/usuario/Desktop/iASLMe.app/Contents/Resources/iasl: Bad CPU type in executable
Done.

All done.

I can´t not continue with the procces. I installed rosetta, but no luck

Any idea?

Thank you

I cannot, for the life of me, find a place to download an AppleHDAkext file that works... bikinifarm's link is invalid now that 10 ppl have DL'd it from Rapidshare, could someone repost it somewhere else more definitively? I have been beating my head against the wall on the Dell mini 9 audio problem now for 1 week+ now, have reinstalled SL 2x now and run all versions of NBI from 8.3. final, RC4 (w/ Dell mini9 tweaks) and even RC5 - all to no avail. Didn't do Vodoo as ppl complain about the static and audio quality. Since I don't know how to "extract" the HDA kext from the SL update as bikini farm stated, I am now at total standstill w/ audio on my mini 9. Incredibly, the mini 10v I just reinstalled for a friend had none of these issues-rather puzzling & frustrating that the mini9 has been around much longer, yet this model is having so many issues with getting internal mic to work while the 10v installs with flying colors...what gives, I wonder. Anyway, thanks all for the great work and help in advance.

[edit] any chance that RC4 will solve this and simply rerunning the latest version of NBI (8.4) will solve this? All this decompiling and editing seems excessive, no?

Thanks for the help, but how can I find that kext on the DVD? The contents of the DVD don't seem to be searchable from Finder window, at least the only HDA kext that comes up searching is the one in /Extras on my SSD, which I'm assuming is not what will do the trick. Again, I'm just curious why Melkort wouldn't just put this crucial original HDA kext into the NBI program, thus eliminating the need for messy decompile/recompiling, etc.? Excuse my noob-ness, but if we all have identical Mini 9's, why not just post ready-to-cut-and-paste dmdt and HDA kext files and be done w/ it? Thanks in advance.

[edit] Thanks to you, Eligos, and your post (#66 on this page) http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/dell-mini-9-os-x-discussion/15380-sound-mic-working-applehda-7.html#post123829 {edit #2} link doesn't seem to be working nicely so see below for his post quoted where you summarized the CORRECT two kexts to insert into the Extras / mini 9 extensions folder, I can finally say that I have onboard MIC working for the 1st time on the mini 9. YAY! FYI, this is after installing NBI 8.3 final and not doing the compling/decompiling method proposed by bikinifarm. I would reccomend that others NOT use Tommy's kext files from pg 8, which did not work for me. THe links Eligos provided in his post #66 worked great for me, the 1st time. Also, I did not have to paste the HDA kext into any other folder other than Extras/mini9 (i.e. systems/library/extensions). Thanks for your assistance here folks, if you don't get it working at first, try try again!

iChat now works really well using the built-in mic.

• Speakers work 100%
• Earplug jack works 100%
• Mic works 100%

Note: I removed the one in S/L/Extensions to have no conflicts.

This is awesome!

4. Go to /Extra and run UpdateExtra application.
5. Reboot and you're done.

Sorry for my last short message. This is the process i folow with my dell mini 9:
  • First, i copy the DSDT.aml file to the Desktop
  • Second I copy the iASLMe program to the desktop too
  • I drag the DSDT.aml to the iasl program
  • Then i obtain the message:
Task: DeCompile "/Users/usuario/Desktop/DSDT.aml" to "/Users/usuario/Desktop/DSDT.dsl" Start working ... DeCompiling ... /tmp/.plx_tmp: line 232: /Users/usuario/Desktop/iASLMe.app/Contents/Resources/iasl: Bad CPU type in executable Done. All done.

I´m thinking about using a real mac to make the whole proccess, but im not sure if is mandatory to decompile an compile in the mini 9

What do you think?

iASLMe's latest versions have been giving this error. Stick with older versions.
