Default Wanting to upgrade to SL.. but... - 12-17-2009, 10:58 PM

Hi all,
I've had my little mini for a while now and have had it running OSX 10.5.5 (I believe) since day 2. Instlaled using EFI. I'd love to upgrade to Snow Leopard, but it appears that the bugs aren't totally worked out yet. Considering I use it for a lot of media (watching on planes, etc...) I'm waiting to make sure that I can get audio working reliably without having to install a bunch of other stuff.

Have I missed the posting detailing if this is possible now? I'd love to be able to upgrade things like Safari, itunes, etc... but it appears that I need to be running a higher version of OSX. Any thoughts? Thanks!

No reason not to go to SL now. Audio is working 100%.

Sometimes it works.

Wait a day or two, Meklort is going to release a new version of NBM/NBI with audio support and no static/popping sound.

The other way works OK, but it slows the boot time and the airport connection is slow on resume from sleep.

I'd upgrade. I've never run anything but SL on my mini but I know I liked the upgrade a lot on my macbook. The audio drama is not a huge deal. Over and above all the other solutions a USB headset will always work flawlessly.

I'd upgrade...worst case scenario buy a Turtle Beach Amigo USB audio card. You can find them as low as $25 and the preamp is notably better than the stock one built in. I am a DJ and use the turtle beach as my main output....It just sounds better. If you are watching a lot of movies, you will notice a marked improvement, especially if you have a good set of headphones.
