Default No disk recognized to install OSX - 12-12-2009, 05:47 PM

So I recently got a mini9 and I finally got around to picking up a copy of SL. I went through the steps to set up a USB stick with all the goodies, went for it, and BOOM. Hit a snag. During the install, my computer wont find a disk to mount the OS on. When I look under utilities > system profiler I find the 16 SSD listed under ATA. Its there... and it knows it... but I cant get at it. Any idea? Has this happened to anyone? I'm hoping I'm just making a dumb mistake. (Rather be dumb than stuck, ya know)

Thanks for any help.

Just a WAG here since I've never seen such a thing, but, did you format the SSD properly? I might see where the install won't let you install to a drive that's not Mac compatible.

Try this

- Click on Utilities in the upper menu bar
- Click Disk utility
- Click on your disk drive in the left column.
- Click partition on the right column
- Partition as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
- Apply the settings to partition the drive

Quit disk utility and then continue with the installer.
