So I had audio and mic working good before NBI-RC5, I think I was using azaila. But after running RC5 I was getting scratchy audio and no mic,

after installing these kexts I get no scratchy audio but still no mic.

iChat now works really well using the built-in mic.

• Speakers work 100%
• Earplug jack works 100%
• Mic works 100%

Note: I removed the one in S/L/Extensions to have no conflicts.

4. Go to /Extra and run UpdateExtra application.
5. Reboot and you're done.
FYI, following these links and using the kexts reposted here by Eligos resolved my Dell mini 9 mic problems once and for all!

Will this APPLEHDA kext work with os x 10.6.3? on a dell mini 9? I have 10.6.2 working perfectly besides my webcam freezes every once and a while :/ I'm not sure if I wanna update if it breaks the sound.

This works with mini 9 and 10.6.3 Dell Mini 9 Audio with Microphone without VoodooHDA (Snow 10.6.2)

What is that zip file? Does it run, execute and take care of it or is it more involved? If so, what are the steps?

Not that easy sorry. You open it up and there's an INSTALL.txt that walks you through the steps. Its a hackintosh afterall.

I figured, but thats what makes it worthwhile. I will take a look at the install.txt and give it a shot and report back. Thanks.

I began the steps listed in the install.txt file included in the zip file and I am stuck. Here is what I did and where Im at:
1-Created a Temp Folder and moved a copy of "dsdt.aml" to same folder.
2-Decompiled this "dsdt.aml" file with iASLME, resulting in the creation of "dsdt.dsl" in Temp folder.
3-The instructions after this are to:

"Edit the decompiled file to DSDT.dsl then with a text editor (emacs,
TextEdit) apply patch1.txt and patch2.txt as per their instructions"

I dont understand this part. What does it mean to "edit the decompiled file to DSDT.dsl"? If you could please clarify this, I think I can do the text editing by following the other instructions.

Edit: I think I got it, I just double clicked on it and it was opened in a text environment where I applied the two fixes. I am waiting for the updating to complete before rebooting and checking.
Also, in your install.txt file you say in step 5 you say:

"5) Backup existing /Extra/DSDT.aml, and replace it with recompiled
version in /tmp/Sessions/xxx/DSDT.dsl"

Dont you mean replace existing /Extra/DSDT.aml file with recompiled version which should be a .aml not a .dsl? In my case there was no .dsl so I just used the recently recompiled .aml file.

Trying to get full sound and mic,

Loui

I applied this and can say that it works!!!!! Yes! Sound without any hissing and the mic works, I tested it with an iChat video call and it is working. Other than my questions that were asked to help you fine tune your install.txt file I have no other comments, but rather a suggestion to make a post outlining your steps for others to benefit from. I'll put one up in a week or so if you haven't. Thanks a lot.
