Blue screen after upgrade from 10.5.6 to 10.5.8 - 11-18-2009, 04:48 AM
I have a Vostro A90 with 2GB RAM and a 32GB SSD. I attempted to upgrade from Leopard 10.5.6 to 10.5.8 following the instructions in this link:
Mac OS X 10.5.8 Update - installation and usage reports
I originally installed 10.5.6 using the DellEFI method.
I used the Software Update within the Mac OS to update to 10.5.8, which was successful, but I did not have wireless. I went to the following page to re-run the Netbook Installer:
From doing a search through the forums, there is apparently a conflict between the old DellEFI method and the later versions of the Netbook Installer. I used NetbookInstaller 0.8.2.
When I boot, I get the grey screen with the blue progress bar. It doesn't matter if I choose safe mode or let it continue to boot on its own; the result is the same blue screen.
I do have the option to boot in single user mode, which allows me to get to a read-only root command line.
My entire filesystem is there. How do I resolve the boot issue?
