Mine works fine in 10.6.1, I didn't do anything special to get it working, just ran NetBookInstaller 0.8.3RC3. Mine's the 0.3MP one, if you have the higher resolution one maybe it needs different drivers?

At the risk of teaching my granny to suck eggs, I would just make sure you actually have it selected - e.g. from the camera menu in PhotoBooth - if you've had a camera plugged in via USB it may be confused and taking input from a non-existent DV cam or something.

Same, in 10.6 and 10.6.1 its worked for me in photoboth, skype and gtalk. There are interactions with the webcam, ichat and the "mirror friendly" NBI option.

Yes, I have the 1.3 MP. It took a pic when I installed Snow Leopard, and it is selected in Photobooth.

Has anyone had any luck with seeing the webcam appear in preferences? Mine works, but it is way too dark for practical use. Is there another way to make ajustments to brightness etc.

Mine worked just fine - even during the creation of my account it used the webcam to take my picture. This was before I even ran NetbookInstaller.

Skype and gchat's video both have prefss that have let me change darkness. Gchat's is actually on your google settings via the browser so that comes at the problem from a different angle.

Thanks for the prompt responses, everyone.
My cam (1.3MP) works fine in Google Chat and iChat; doesn't show up in PhotoBooth or QuickTime OS X. That seems to be within the realm of normal behavior...

Not sure what you mean by doesn't show up in photobooth or Quicktime. It should work there too.

Update: Success!

Originally, I was getting a black box in PhotoBooth, even though "Use Internal Webcam" was checked.
Based on the suggestions in this thread, I tried iChat and downloaded GoogleTalk, and both recognized the cam.
I then tried QuickTime X, and it did not recognize the cam.
I then downloaded macam, and, following the instructions, copied macam.component into the /Library/QuickTime/ directory, so it would be available to all applications.
After a restart, the cam was available in both PhotoBooth and QuickTime X.

Thanks again, everyone. Now on to the mic...
