Default Sleep Issue Question - 11-06-2009, 03:47 AM

Just to confirm, the sleep function will not work with the 10.5.8 update and DellEFI 1.2a5 or NetbookInstaller on a STEC SSD?

Also...
Is there any alternative for STEC SSD users? I don't have a problem shutting down then booting again (its under a minute, what is there to complain about!) although the sleep function is a nice feature and I'd like to find a way to use it, if there is one.

I would be quite astonished if the brand or model of SSD had any relevance.

Prepare to be astonished.

Sleep works upon installation with SuperTalent and RunCore SSD. It can be made to work with the stock SSD by running a kext in this old post, about 4 or 5 pages in. (I never needed it, and can't vouch for it)

Sleep not working after 10.5.8 upgrade

Also, be sure USB Legacy and USB Wake are disabled in your BIOS.

Sleep, not Hibernation. Hibernation does not work, nor does selecting sleep from the menu always work. Closing the lid should always work for sleep, and opening it should always restore.

I can vouch for it. I've got the stock (16G) SSD. When I did the 10.5.8 upgrade sleep stopped working for me (well, it would sleep but would not wake up afterwards). When I added in this kext, sleep worked flawlessly.

I have a 16G stock SSD, did upgrade to 10.5.8 with NetbookInstaller .8.3 RC3 today and sleep works fine so far. Issue I had was the sound not returning after sleep, but I fixed that with this post.
