Default coverflow / frontrow broken - 10-27-2009, 01:29 AM

My Mini9 runs 10.5.8 like a champ, with one glitch:

Frontrow, coverflow, boxee, and XBMC open to a black screen.

coverflow works normally in the Finder, but not iTunes 8 or 9.

I suspect this is due to omitting installing X11 functionality during the OSX install to save disk space. Is this correct? Is there a way to install it w/o a fresh system reinstall?

Thanks! This forum has been so helpful!

Did you install the old mirror friendly GMA kexts to use an external monitor or projector? I remember these cause problems sometimes.

Sounds like you need to reinstall the mini 9 extensions to enable QuartzExtreme on your mini. Check in the System Profiler under Graphics/Displays and see if it shows QuartzExterme enabled.

X11 isn't the problem. I had mine running without it and had no video issues. X11 can be added, if you want to add it, by inserting the retail disc and selecting optional installs( I beleive that is the wording used) you don't need to do a fresh install.
