Sounds like your boot-volume (ie: OS X partition) lost its Chameleon file(s).
Or, the partition lost it's "Active" status.
Since NBI didn't work, first I'd try to reset the partition as active, using fdisk in terminal. There are quite a few guides here and on other forums on how to do this, so I'll save time & space for now and not write it all out here again!
If that does not work, then manually transfer the boot1h and boot files from Chameleon (may as well also reload boot0) from the /i386 folder of the Chameleon download. You can also get the 3 files from NBI (show package contents: Resources>Support Files>bootloader.
Brief instructions on how to do that are in the /doc folder in Chameleon download, if you "Google & Get" the Chameleon as a complete package, and again there are quite a few guides online.
