Default 10.6.1 - GMA Drivers not loaded - 10-25-2009, 06:49 PM

I've just installed 10.6.1 via the NetBookMaker method, everything works except the graphics are terrible.

Anything that requires OpenGL doesn't work, just a white screen.
The menubar at the top isn't translucent and moving windows around is blocky and jerky.

All these things were fine in 10.5.8.

I did a sudo kextstat |grep GMA and unsurprisingly, no extension names were returned.

Any ideas why this is?

Some have reported issues with this. It is usually cleared up by running NBI again.

Hmm, I've run it a dozen times.

When I run it in normal OS mode (normal boot), I end up with a kernel panic after restart, verbose mode shows it's the VoodooHDA driver having problems with dependencies.

This is fixed by running the NBI again in Safe mode (-x -v).

But then the graphics aren't fixed.

I've done a fresh install of Snow Leopard so far.
Going to restore my 10.5.8 image I made earlier and go for an upgrade, some have reported this appears to work.

I would just like to report,
I restored my 10.5.8 .dmg I made of the SSD before I erased and installed 10.6 before.

Instead of doing a clean install, I followed the NetBootMaker method to prepare my USB stick (with 10.6 installer on it) for install, and simply went for an Upgrade instead of a full erase.

This appears to have worked flawlessly with both core image working in accelerated mode and all the sound working fine aswell (no hiss like with the VoodooHDA driver).

Wifi and Bluetooth are fine aswell.

Very strange.

Do you have the
mirror friendly GMA thing installed to use
a external monitor.
I noticed that the graphics thing does that
when you tick the old GMA thing in NBI.
And when I do not tick it
graphics are okay.
