Default Heat Generation 10.6.1 - 10-21-2009, 02:42 PM

Hello all,

I have a Mini 9 with a RunCore 32GB SSD running OS 10.6.1. I used to have 10.5.8 (retail install), and ever since, I've noticed my Mini 9 running much warmer than before, and the battery is not lasting as long. I've not tampered with anything else. Could this be due to a lack of SpeedStep support or something similar?

I posted the same question in the OSX dev area. Speed step does not seem to work on 10.6.1 for me using RC3. I seem to have it working using VoodooPowerMini.kext as CPU-X is showing the speed changing from 798 to 1596 MHz and a few steps in between.

Im using VoodooPowerMini.kext myself. But my mini 9 w/ 10.6 wasn't all that hot to begin with. Must be the 32GB SSD and usage patterns.

mini 9 | 2GB RAM | 16GB STEC SDD | BIOS A06, USB Legacy OFF | No Bluetooth | OSX 10.6.7 | NBI 0.8.5pre w/ ALC268 | Broadcom2Airport
MINI Cooper '02 | 1.6L | CVT | Moonroof | Red w/ White Stripes

Want the ALC268 mini 9 sound fix? Get it here

why don't you guys download coolbookcontroller, and note the temperature

you can use it for free to monitor cpu and temp

Mac OS X 10.5.7, Bios A05, DellEFI 1.2a5, 2 GB Memory, 32 GB Runcore, Integrated 1.3 Megapixel video + Bluetooth (fixed on/off), , GMA booster, VoodooPower (proper steps), TouchPad Kext 18. GeekBench 920
