mini 9 + snow leopard failed install - 09-16-2009, 06:47 PM
I have a new dell mini 9 with a brand new unformatted 16Gb ssd
I followed this tutorial to make the USB stick and each step seemed to complete successfully exactly as it said
I used a genuine retail snow leopard dvd to fill the second partition of the usb stick, that also seemed to complete successfully without errors
When I try to install it, I can go into the bios and the ssd is detected.
The install goes through the first screen which says about SYSLINUX, then it goes to the Darwin/x86 screen and shows the 2 partitions on the USB drive. I can select the second partition but when I attempt to boot from to the install, I get a message flash up saying:
Is this because the guide I followed wasn't for snow leopard?
Or is it down to a mistake making the install USB ?
Can I fix this by copying the missing file onto the USB drive?

Nooooooooooooo! Don't follow the old, ancient, outdated, archaic, useless Gizmodo guide! lol
Welcome to MyDellMini... here you will find everything you need to know to install OSX onto your Mini. The methods used in the Gizmodo guide are now very outdated! I do not know why they have that hanging around and do not update it... cmon!
If you check out the link I have in my signature you will find a plethora of great guides at Mechdrew's website. Work from there, ask questions if you come accross them... but try to learn as much as possible and have fun!!
