10.5.8 Sleep problem resolved - 09-12-2009, 02:16 PM
OK, I just upgraded to 10.5.8 from 10.5.6 and ever since the mini has sleep problem:
- solid light
- never wakes up
I have followed all the combinations of
- bluetooth on/off
- legacy USB on/off
- usb wake on/off
but never once work
I came across a pref tool: smartsleep (SmartSleep) and now it work each and everytime. Just wanted to share this. Maybe we can either add this option to the installer to get sleep working for someone in my situation.
My configuration (mini9, A05 BIOS)
- 2GB RAM
- DELL 1505 N-WiFi
- installed with BOOT123 using OSX 10.5.6 retail CD and then netbook installer 0.8.2 final
- Bluetooth on
- usb legacy/wake off (both)
- smartsleep "sleep only" (change to smart sleep first and then back to sleep only)
Finally my mini sleep well with 10.5.8 and so am I !!!

I've reinstalled both DellEfi1.2a5 and NetbookInstaller many times, tried removing /Extra and /.dellefi, deleted and regenerated dsdt.aml's, with legacy usb on and off, and nothing works.
Also tried Smartsleep, on all sleep modes and no change.
It just won't even enter sleep in the first place... power light stays on even though screen turns off, and no way to resume.
This is on a 64G Runcore which worked perfectly under 10.5.6.

i just upgraded from 10.5.7 (dellefi v1.1) to 10.5.8 (NBI v0.8.2) a couple of days ago and was experiencing the same no audio after sleep issue. after reinstalling NBI with the disable hibernation option checked i somehow managed to break sleep as well (screen goes black, light stays on, and i'm unable to wake it). i managed to fix it by doing the following:
- disk utility -> fix permissions (this will take a few minutes)
- dellefi -> remove custom dsdt.aml file and disable hibernation
- dellefi -> reinstall dell mini 9 extensions, generate custom dsdt.aml
- reboot into safe mode
- netbookinstaller -> install dell mini 9 extensions, generate custom dsdt.aml
after doing this sleep and audio after waking works again. i am running the stock 32GB SSD and BIOS A04 with the usual options.
note: when troubleshooting i noticed that even though i selected "disable hibernation" within NBI, when i rebooted and relaunched NBI it still listed the "disable" option instead of the "enable" option. it wasn't until i disabled hibernation with dellefi that NBI now recognized hibernation was disabled and listed the "enable hibernation" option.
