Default BootLoader Software - 09-10-2009, 12:07 PM

I’ve been happily running my dual boot Win7 / Leopard 10.5.8 for a couple of months now. I’m getting ready to upgrade to Snow Leopard soon.

The only complaint I’ve ever had about my hackintosh is the boring EasyBCD boot loading software. I’d really like something better or at least with some color when my mini boots up. I’ve seen all the posts about Chameleon but I’ve no idea how to make it work i.e. uninstalling EasyBCD and making Chameleon work for boot loading.

Has anyone found better looking software than EasyBCD? Anyone used Gag? It at least has a graphical interface so I think I’m going to try it out. I’m still kind of freaked about uninstalling EasyBCD….kind of worried that I won’t be able to boot into anything if Gag doesn’t work.

Any advice would be welcome.

You may have better luck getting a response posting this in the General forum...

I've got dual boot going using Chameleon, very nice graphic boot loader.

There is thread posted on how to do it quite easily without requiring anything like EasyBCD, you may want to try this, since many more of us have this setup and can offer assistance...

Thanks for the reply. I've loaded the Chameleon kexts with the Dell EFI but I'm still running Easy BCD. What I'm most worried about is un-installing the BCD and getting Chameleon to work.

I suppose its too much to hope for that since the Chameleon is supposedly already loaded via EFI that when I uninstall the BCD program an reboot ...Chameleon would take over. Anyone had any experience with this?
