Default Hulu, OS X 10.6 and the Mini9 - 09-09-2009, 06:16 PM

I know Hulu stuttering has been discussed on other threads, but I was hoping to hear from 10.6 adopters regarding any improvement.

My own story matches others - I had no Hulu problems whatsoever and didn't understand the bitching, until 10.5.8. Now I have stuttering both in the stand alone app, and in the browser, regardless of quality.

I made no other changes to the machine whatsoever - Mini9 with 2 gig, and factory 32 gb ssd

Will 10.6 set me free?

Doubt it, as 10.6 installs an older version of the Flash Plug in.

Also, for now, no audio with the mini 9, unless you can hack and patch it yourself.

But you can just download and install the current version so this is a non-issue.

Yes, you can download it, if you know to do so. If not, 10.6 won't magically fix the Hulu playback issue.

Just trying to make the poster aware of the issue.

Yes, provided the poster knows how to install this kext.

It's not a hard thing to install. You just google "flash player download" and click the first link.

Yes, it is not hard to install, that is not what I am saying. I am saying that with an OS upgrade, you get a downgrade to your Flash plug in.

The poster asked if installing 10.6 would "set me free", well maybe, but the audio and Flash issues needed to be addressed.

I wasn't trying to ruffle anyone's feathers over SL, I am amazed at the progress so far, but if you have a fully functioning 10.5 install, why upgrade to 10.6 just yet? There are still bugs and issues to be worked out. That was all I was saying.

I can load kexts with the best of 'em I'll stipulate to the audio problem, and the older flash problem.

I guess this is as much about CPU speed/utilization under 10.6 as it is about anything else. Previous Hulu stuttering discussions seemed to be as much voodoo as fact, so I was hoping that 10.6 + updated flash plugin would stick a permanent needle in the doll.
