Default What do I need Exactly - 08-29-2009, 03:41 PM

So I am hoping to get my Vostro A90 running a MAC OS soon. I am think I will be getting leopard first and then snow leopard. This way by the time I get snow leopard there will be an easy walkthrough. Anyway my question is what type of install disk do I need. I know that Mac sells both regular install disks and also Boxed Sets that have Ilife on them. What do I need to use for my Dell? Could I use the basic Leopard install disk? If I didn't use the Box set does that mean that I would have leopard but none of the Ilife applications?

Read through the install guides here:
Mac OS X Guides

Take your pick of the method you want to use.

The Leopard install disc is all you need. If you want iLife, then get it.

You can use a Retail Leopard disc, or a Box set which includes iLife to install.
If you buy the Retail Leopard disc it does not contain iLife or iWork.
You can buy these separately, if you don't buy the box set. The Box set is the best value if you want the extra features.

My feeling is that I should either get a copy of leopard and then just buy a box set of snow leopard once someone makes a walkthrough on how to install it. How long do people think it will be until such a walkthrough exists?
