Default Upgrading SSD - 08-23-2009, 02:50 AM

My niece has a Mini 9 running OS X with a 16GB SSD. I need to upgrade her to a 32GB SSD and wonder which of the several brands out there fits with the least hassle? I've read about some folks needing spacers, etc., and I'd like to avoid all of that if possible. Any recommendation would be appreciated.

Yup. The 32GB Runcore SSD is what most ofpeople here would get. It's fast and fits perfectly.
IMO, stay away from supertalent due to their slowness.

I have a SuperTalent, and it isn't slow, but it is the older model.

I wouldn't buy a RunCore, they cost too much, IMHO, and I have read several posts about excessive heat, and or buyers who regret the purchase after the fact who felt it didn't live up to the hype.

I have a STEC 64GB, came installed by Dell. It works fast enough for me, the Runcore may be faster but I think it is more expensive.

Crucial's read / write speeds are bad. They claim a faster rate than they can actually achieve.

There were several threads about them in the Mini 9 Hardware forum, all of them bad.
