I have to disagree.
I have 3 laptops with webcams:
Studio 1537 w/ 2.0 MP
Inspiron 1545 w/ 1.3 MP
Mini 9 w/ 0.3 MP
Using Skype, the Mini 9's 0.3 MP looks great... on its 8.9" screen. On another PC, the 0.3 MP image quality is not even close to that of a 2.0 or 1.3 MP web cam. Even in low light conditions, the 0.3 MP was clearly not as good as the 2.0
The 2.0 MP image looked great on the Studio 1537 and on the Mini 9, in low-light or bright environments.
I agree that the 0.3 MP is better for low-bandwidth connections, but honestly in today's environment where almost everyone is using broadband, it doesn't make a big difference. I'd opt for the highest quality webcam.
