Default Dell 1505 wireless card - 06-18-2009, 12:59 AM

I just got it in today, ordered direct from Dell Canada.

it runs so hot! I can't imagine that this card runs cooler than the Apple card.

Does anyone else have issues with this card and heat? I can feel the heat through the palmrest and trackpad.

What are everyone else's experiences?

At idle, my 1505 does not seem hot at all. When downloading, my entire DM9 gets hot if at any time I cover (or slightly cover) the bottom vents. Overall, when being used, the DM9 can get very hot -> as mentioned in many threads on this forum.

I don't feel any heat really at the palm rests, only on the bottom. Keep in mind, I have a Runcore 32G (hot), 2G Gskill ram (hot), a MR04 SDHC card (hot) and the 1505 (hot). 4x hot = hot. But "hot" is relative/qualitative to everyone. Yes, sometimes it seems too hot to the touch -> maybe 50degC more or less.

If I keep the mini held up, so that the vents are never covered by my lap etc, then it seems fine. I run it hard, then let it idle ... then it seems fine. I think passively cooled netbooks like this need special attention you have to keep track of what it's doing. Be your own "thermal manager / fan".

The 1505/n is hotter than the stock b/g card. But I expect it to be.
