I have finally completed the Fingerprint scanner mod. I used the instructions here to install the usb hub and then connected the wires to the hub. Here is the login screen  After a successful finger scan you see this.  One thing to note: If you install this on another machine first and have it recognize all your fingers when you go to another computer (my mini 9 OSx) and do a fresh install in it you will have some problems. It kept saying my fingerprints were already registered. To fix this I used the side of my thumb where it did not recognize the pattern. After it recognized it I used the utility to delete all registered scans. The reason for this is the scans are kept on the hardware NOT the computer. They are not actually scans if you read the MFG website. HAPPY MODDING. I decided to hold off on putting in the GPS behind the Fingerprint scanner because I do not have the appropriate tape to hold the cards in place and with the tape I have it was not allowing the cover to snap in place. Rock on! Almost tempted to do it to the Mini 10v. Almost. THe only reason I won't is that I had a fingerprint reader on my old HP laptop, and I hated where the bloody thing was positioned. I agree to a point. Being that the mini 9 is running Mac and it is a small palm rest it is not in the way much. Also the only time on the Mac to use the scanner is at startup and when the screensaver goes into lockout mode where you need a password or finger. 64Gb RunCore SSD running OS X 10.5.7 / 2Gb RAM / 1.3MP camera / Bluetooth / WLAN / Fingerprint Scanner / USB Hub Original 16Gb SSD running Win XP |
