Ordered with minimum memory and put a 2 GB stick in right after going through initial XP config. Ubuntu installed after work same night.XP seemed zippier,when i rebooted, but not quantified. Know it will be useful when i have to in rare cases run development software(although not main purpose of this computer) at the same time -- Eclipse,Tomcat, and Postgresql. Just a note - Dell chat told me 1 GB was maximum -- i tried not to laugh -- then got scared they did something bios-wise. Turned out to not be the case, just mis-information.(and did explain to the rep. that this chipset and cpu in other cases supported 2gb).

the memory specs: CORSAIR VALUE - 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM SODIMM - PC2-5300 667 MHz

after extensive research on sept. 4th - came up with same thing as jbloodwo.

Picked up a 2gb DIMM at work and paid less than 30 after my discount on a sale price.
