Default Accelerometer - 11-15-2008, 07:01 AM

Hi. I´d love to see a tutorial for installing an accelerometer. Since the mini is an excellent pdf reader, it would be nice to be able to make it rotate the screen automatically when the unit gets rotated.

On the other hand that might be overkill... does anybody know of a good utility which makes the screen rotate with just one click, as well as adjust the touchpad to the rotation?

hmm how do they work? Wouldn't it have to be installed in the monitor casing to work properly?

no, it could be installed anywhere, it just needs to be calibrated.
but you are probably better off just getting that eee switcher program. it just switches the resolution into portrait mode. it was posted on this forum once, but google should be able to find it for you

Great idea! I could see using this for games (I think I could hold the mini and 'steer', e.g., long enough to enjoy some down time).

the other alternative would be to use ctrl-alt arrow keys to quick rotate the screen.

this would be a great idea! i would like to try this and use my mini 9 as a data logger to measure my performance on a race track, i see the various accelerometers on the given website above, in chip and usb form, i wonder how it will work in chip form or is the usb necessary?

Also it would be great to use the accelerometer to detect if the laptop was dropped then to try and park the hard disk heads before it.... oh wait I just realised something.

Oh that is cool.
Plenty of room to mount it too. Very interesting!
