Really - I find battery life on Windows 7 to be better. There is a power profile that does best by the battery. Battery Saver or Power Saver or something like that. I get about an hour's more time with that enabled.

I'm comparing my default battery profile on Win7 to the Ultimate Battery profile on XP.

Today, after half an hour of very light usage (nothing disk intensive, no video, screen brightness on lowest setting, bluetooth & WiFi turned off) the battery drained by 20%. That's crazy. I hope I can get the satisfying results you got, holmes4. If not, I'll the Vista Battery Saver program that yakinikku suggested.

With the power saving profile, I am getting nearly five hours on the 9, with WiFi on (Bluetooth off.)

I just went and looked at that profile and will give it a try!

Thanks for the heads up folks!

on win 7 running with areo enabled and max cpu frequency at 100% (no restrictions on speedstep) on battery i notice MAYBE 10 min less than xp's bat life with the same 100% max frequency (no restrictions on speedstep).

Usuallly get 220-240min on a full charge.

It sounds great but will it cause damages to your mini or battery?

I just ran this. My question is for some reason my mini has the screen get dimmer when plugged in and not running off battery power. When its unplugged it goes to full brightness. How can I fix this? This isnt the only power option it does it with.

The brightness settings for batty mode & A/C mode are remembered independently. Simply plug in the mini & turn the brightness up, then unplug it & turn the brightness down. From then on, the screen should automatically get brighter whenever you plug in the computer.
