I need to replace my stock g card with a new n card.

I see this one advertised by Intel.

Can this be fitted or do i need somethign else - maybe a bit smaller?

Yes that card will work fine though you may be able to pick up a newer Intel 5300 card for less money - you can just connect your two existing aerials to two of the three sockets on the 5300 card and it works fine.

I just went to Amazon and bought the macbook pro wireless upgrade kit. It's plug and play. I unplugged my old one and plugged in the new one. Mac was able to detect it and it works. The only thing is that the cards run hot after long periods of use and I notice that it slows that down the system. To correct this I just fan the bottom of the Mini for like 3 minutes and it cools down. No advantage to wireless N unless you peer to peer download I hear everyone saying. Good luck

BTW you can go to ebay and pick them up cheap for about $20-$30.

Do either of these cards run well under Ubuntu 9.04? I may need to replace my broadcom as well. The card is acting very flaky the last month or so, I'm afraid it may be going bad, and I'd prefer an Intel card to eliminate any broadcom-related driver issues.

The intel 5300 is the best card in my opinion for the DM9 the 4695agn doesn't standby or hibernate with the mini (in xp of course) because of the chipset. So if you have that card and standby you have to reset to get the card back online. I used it for a month and now it sits in my parts drawer. I bought the 5300 agn on ebay for 23.95 shipped. If you still want the 4695 I have one for trade. PM me.

I have the Intel 5300, but I would suggest the 5100 unless you want to install the third antenna. My experience is that it makes a difference on the 5300. Supposedly, both are supported on Linux.

Because the 5300 needs the third antenna for best results. If you don't mind buying and installing one (the antennas are cheap, installing is maybe an hour's work), then the 5300 (or even the 5350 with WiMax) would be fine. My own experience with the 5300 and two antennae was not positive. Could be I chose the wrong two connections.
