Re: RAM Questions... DDR2 533 CL3 vs DDR2 800 CL5?? - 04-30-2009, 03:37 PM
a couple of short clocks off the memory latency (if you actually even get it) on a netbook is not going to make a significantly noticeable difference in any of the real problems in meeting or exceeding the performance envelope of netbooks.

hey everyone, i have a quick question relating to this...
my order says
N126CModule,Dual In-line Memory Module,512,800MHZ,DDR2,1GBIT
Does this just mean the a90 im getting had a 800mhz ram chip thrown in it, or can it actually take the full 800mhz?
I just ordered some corsair 800mhz ram this size (2gb) would this hyper-x ram everyone is talking about be faster? they are about the same price.

Apparently, dell ships the minis with 800mHz ram, but it is underclocked due to the limitations of the chipset. Simply putting in 800mHz ram (or 1066mHz for that matter) does not magically allow the mini to run it at its native speed. Rather, dell likely put in the 800mHz ram because a)ram is suuuuuper cheap these days and b)underclocked ram will run cooler, and the mini is fanless.
