Default Anyone using their Mini 9 for war driving? - 11-07-2008, 12:37 AM

Any mods or hacks you would suggest?

Netstumbler seems to work well.

The Mini9 is a fairly good machine for it. That plastic lid allows the antennae to work far better than just about any other laptop I've used in the past.

I use InSSIDer for this purpose. You can check out the program and download it here: http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider

NetStumbler is old and busted. InSSIDer is the new hotness.

On a more serious note, I've been totally amazed at how well the Mini sees access points around me. It seems to be very sensitive. Just my experience.

I think the mini 9 needs a wireless card with driver for injection and monitor mode, to be a good computer for war driving...

Mine too.
I live in a townhouse neighborhood and my mini picks up one or two outlying signals that my B130 doesn't get.
(TONS of routers around me.)

Anyone else getting different results?

I use KisMac on my Mini. I seems to work sporadically, and even then the results aren't consistent. The biggest problem I find is that the channel listing seems to be off. For reference, I'm using r319.
